Ryan Chang was born and raised on the island of O‘ahu. After years of hiking in Hawai‘i, Ryan gained a unique appreciation for the native ecosystems that inhabit Hawai‘i’s mauka forests. In 2014 he was offered a position with OISC as an Invasive Species Technician. When he is not surveying in the forest, Ryan is an avid reader and self-taught plant enthusiast, applying his knowledge during hikes to educate others about Hawai‘i’s unique flora and fauna. Ryan regularly contributes photos to social media groups like Native Flora and Fauna and Hawai‘i Conservation in an effort to get more local young people from Hawai‘i interested in careers in conservation.
