August was born and raised on O‘ahu and has been working in conservation for about a year and a half. Before starting at OISC he worked for O‘ahu Army Natural Resources Program. He loves nature and has been an avid hiker for years and wants to do his part to help protect native forests. His favorite native plant is ‘oha wai (lobelia) and his favorite animal is the ‘Alauahio (O‘ahu creeper). In his free time August enjoys hiking and snorkeling.
