Maka was born and raised in Kapahulu, O’ahu and attended UH Mānoa earning her degree in Pacific Islands Studies with a focus in Arts and Culture. In her free time, she enjoys mural painting or carving wood, bone, stone &other natural materials, bodyboarding and competitive paddling. “What drew me to work in the field of conservation was that I want my mo’opuna far into the future to experience the unique richness of this ‘āina as fully as I have had the privilege to. I’m excited to be on the team at OISC and I hope to play some small part in helping make that future a reality.”
